Setup CloudFlare

  1. Sign up for a cloudflare account if you haven't already.

  2. Add a domain and have it scan any existing DNS records.

  3. After it scans, click through to see the imported DNS records. Verify the records are accurate by comparing them to the previous configurations.

  4. Select your plan info.

  5. It will then tell you to visit your registrar and change the Nameserver info to what cloudflare advise

  6. Transfer the Cloudflare account to the client

Recommended configurations

Speed

  • Auto Minify

  • Accelerated Mobile Links

 Firewall

  • Reduce "Security Level" from High to Medium (the recommended value)

Crypto

  • Full SSL (strict) (because CF recommends using it)

  • Always use HTTPS

  • Automatic HTTPS Rewrites (just in case we accidentally introduce an HTTP resource)

Scrape Sheild

  • Turn _off_ "Hotlink Protection"
